Dr. Eda Acara

Currently an assistant professor in the department of geography at Bakircay University, Izmir, Turkey. Previously, worked in the department of sociology at Baskent University and in the Urban Policy Planning and Local Governments program at Middle East Technical University.

MC Substitute member to COST Action 18140 “People in Motion: Entangled Histories of Displacement across the Mediterranean (1492- 1923)” (until 2023).

Current Interests: gender and off-grid investments in the Global South, food systems in Turkey, political ecology of water; uneven geographies of the city-regions in the Global South.
